The Magic Spider Bite

This story broke in March but I only heard about it today.

A California man was in a motorcycle accident years ago that left him, sadly, without the use of his legs. He spent 20 years in a wheelchair as a paraplegic - but everything changed when he was bitten by a Brown Recluse Spider.

While beaing treated in the hospital a nurse noticed spasms in his leg. Since that was supposed to be impossible, the hospital ran tests and discovered that his nerves were still working. In less than a week this guy was walking around on his own.

No one has yet figured out how a spider bite could cure a guy of paralysis but it is very interesting.

The poisonous bite of Brown Recluse Spider is more well known that the healing effects of it's cousin - the Brown Extrovert. (citation needed)

There is a great deal we don't know about our world. I always think that our level of scientific understanding is impressive (and it is) but stuff like this reminds me that there is still a lot to learn.

(I came across this story on Oddee.com, from their list of amazing medical miracles.)
