This 12 question test from the Pew Research Center is fun because it compares your answers to those of others. The statistics are broken down by age and levels of education so you can compare your scientific-savy to that of a senior citizen or a high school dropout. (Or both.)
I only missed one (I won't say which one because I was sort of embarrassed) but I was horrified at the number of people who missed some very easy questions. To think that discussions of the energy crisis involve people who don't know if an atom is bigger than an electron...it made me sad.
Anyway, I dare you to take the test. If you are brave enough tell me one you missed I will tell you which one I missed. Even though I don't want to. (I'm not asking you to post your score, just one that you missed.)

i got all twelve correct, it's hard for me to believe that you missed one. it must have been a brain fart or the laser question.
It was NOT the laser question. Good work, old friends.
Seems like areas of space, biology (stem cells & antibiotics), and atomic science (electrons & radioactivity) threw people the most. I can forgive mistakes on the space questions because they're not really ever relevant to one's daily life.
I would tell you which one I missed, but I didn't miss any. :-p
hehehe
Maybe this would be less embarrassing if I challenged the kids on 4chan.
On the plus side, you could take from this that mostly smart people read your blog.
Yes, THAT is encouraging.
wow.. seriously, wow.. i actually got them all right (and aparently your readers are a significant chunk of that 10%..) i am really not a sciency person (kelly can vouch for that..) so who's to blame for my sucsess? i blame tv.
i bet you missed the contenents question.. forgot it was a science test and answered theologically..
I DID miss the continental drift question - but not because of theological issues.
I'm not a young-Earth Creationist so I don't care how old the Earth is or whether or not the continents drifted.
I honestly thought that the continents stopped drifting at some point and I really thought I learned that in school.
Would you really assume that I would cast aside science for theology, thinking that one could answer for the other? That's not the kind of thinking I promote.
Hooray for my BS: I got all 12 right!
Well, everyone who visits my site is smarter than I.
It's interesting that percentage-wise the only two questions that women answered correctly more frequently than men were related to health..
