Evil Green

Being 'Green' has gone from being silly to being evil.

An English woman, Toni Vernelli, terminated her pregnancy because she believed it would protect the environment. She has since gotten herself sterilized so that it cannot happen again.

Killing a baby to save the planet? This was done because she was led to believe that humans are quickly destroying the planet with their ways and that the life of her baby was not as precious as the time she thinks that baby would take away from the Earth's time table.

Global warming is a scam. If Al Gore believed it would he take his private jet to Sweden to pick up an award, or would he accept it via letter? Our children will laugh when we tell them that we were swindled into believing that using paper sacks would save the world from disaster just like we think it's funny that our parents were afraid of inducing an ice age.

Now, this silly scam is costing the lives of innocent babies. Why do I care so much about the truth behind 'Global Warming'? Because when someone gets confused about the facts they actually kill people. It's not just a disagreement about the weather, it's about environmentalists taking our money while babies die.
Most importantly, if these people believed in prserving life on this planet, they would kill themselves and let the kid live. I don't think anyone is that self sacrificing.

Those Annoying Stem Cells

Recently, researchers found a way to get normal skin cells to act like embryonic stem cells. It's odd research and the news stories can be confusing to me because the research has morphed into a very serious battle between science and religion and I think most of the people involved in the fight are trying to battle for their religious beliefs rather than truly looking for answers to disease.

Keep in mind, I'm not just talking about religious 'armchair scientists' who call into radio talk shows, I've been reading articles in science magazines that were bent on destroying religion and showed no intention to cure disease. Both sides of this debate are guilty of forgetting what we are really doing with this research.

Anyway, Fred Thompson issued this statement giving his views on the matter, I think it's pretty much what I have been thinking.

Statement by Fred Thompson on Adult Cell Research Breakthrough

McLean, VA - Senator Fred Thompson issued the following statement regarding today's scientific breakthrough in adult cell research:

"There is exciting news for patients today. In yet another breakthrough for adult cell research, scientists have made normal human skin cells take on the relevant properties of embryonic stem cells. That is in addition to 73 breakthroughs for adult and cord blood research to date. There are still no embryonic stem cell breakthroughs.

"For all who are concerned for patients and their families, the effective, ethical, and compassionate answer is to put our money where the breakthroughs are happening -- in adult research.

"Using adult cells negates the need for cloning embryos to harvest their stem cells.

"We all want to find cures to help people with chronic illnesses. Adult cells have provided breakthroughs for many illnesses including ovarian and breast cancer, Juvenile Diabetes, Parkinson's Disease, and Sickle Cell Anemia. Today's announcement is just one more indication that our current policy in relying only on adult cells is working."

Movie Screening

I went to a movie premiere the other day by invitation.  It was the screening of The Asimov Incident and it was directed by my friend, Andrew Armstrong. 

It was quite good, an intellectual science-fiction thriller with a good story. 

It was only ten minutes, so he showed the film twice, which was good, because the film has the kind of ending that makes you want to watch the whole thing again to see what was really going on.  Like the first time you see The Usual Suspects and you just want to watch it a few more times so you can undersand everything.

I went to a premiere a few years ago for a political documentary and this one was similar.  We watched the film and had an intimate question and answer time with the director.  Very cool.
