I Saw the Light - Short Bible Study

It was my beautiful fiance who introduced me to the history of the song, "I Saw the Light", by Hank Williams. It had two verses, but the great Johnny Cash wrote a third verse about a blind man and my hero, David Crowder, recently wrote a fourth verse/reprise.

The newest verse goes like this:

When death takes me down and I breathe here no more My anthem will sound on that eternal shore When I join with the angels in Heaven on high Singing, “Praise the Lord, I saw the light”

I always want to add "He is alive" to the end. He is alive. It always makes me smile to sing this song and remember that Jesus is alive and that He showed me the light.

Google is really pushing it this time...

Google released a very cool futuristic tool called StreetView to their already cool maps.google.com service. But, this one makes people a little uneasy.

It basically shows pictures of the neighborhood to anyone who looks it up. It's like you are standing in the street looking around rather than seeing a satellite view from miles above.

This poor fellow can be found walking to an adult bookstore.


Another can be seen leaving a strip club and this one shows a license plate.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I expect that the usual voices will start their usual cries of privacy concerns; this time, they may have a point.

If this whole thing makes you uncomfortable, don't blame Google, Microsoft started it.

Barbarians

Christian in the country of Pakistan had better hit the road. It appears that hundreds of churches are receiving bomb threats if their members do not convert to Islam. This is barbaric. The local police believe it to be a prank; I certainly hope that they are correct.

Right now, Christians in Pakistan are begging the government for protection, but they feel that the government is not doing much about the threat. But, the government involvement gets worse.

The government of Pakistan has strict blasphemy laws that call for the death penalty or life in prison for anyone who blasphemes the Religion of Islam. This allows radicals to justify the killing of Christians, who are quite rare in this aggressively Islamic area.

If we find out that these threats are real and these Christians are killed, we should remember that this is a barbaric government that does not adhere to a religion of peace. However, Nancy Pelosi did not mind meeting with these people to discuss peace. Now I know why so many people in America were upset about her visit.

Vietnam vs. Iraq

I don't really like comparing Iraq with Vietnam; the only similarity seems to be the media's attitude. Still, I found this chart interesting. It was made by the people at appealforcourage.org, it's a little morbid, but it's still important. Of course, no one enjoys hearing that the life of a soldier has been lost. I hope no one thinks I am writing these deaths off as a neccessary thing, that's not it, I just like to know the facts. Whether or not you support the war, let's pray that our troops are kept safe.
